i recomend you read Blackburn: a novel

My friend (brad Denton) wrote a great novel a few years back called Blackburn. Its about a serial killer who kills people that deserve to die. (such as auto mechanics that are screwing little old ladys out of there money for doing nothing to there car) Any way i asked about the charector Jimmy Blackburn and where he came from. i got a answer back and i liked one of the quotes. i thought i would share it with you...

"  As for where Jimmy Blackburn came from originally:  Well, he came from where I grew up -- Butler County, Kansas.  See, outside observers seem to think that rural life is less violent and more peaceful than life in an urban environment . . . but it only appears that way because dirt soaks up blood more efficiently than concrete does."

man i love that line dirt soaks up blood more effeciently than concrete does.... and its so true. Some of the towns that my friends grew up in (and that i spent week ends and weeks with them) had back stories. And as i told brad in one town that i know of there was more bodies than tombstones...

I remember something similar from a Sherlock Holmes story. Holmes and Watson are riding a train to a case somewhere, and Watson remarks to Holmes about how bucolic and pastoral the scattered farmhouses look. Holmes replies that when he see those little isolated farms, he imagines the appaling crimes, oppression, and macabre events that could be taking place in those rural settings, and no one passing by would ever know. Watson is horrified at Holmes' words, and realizes that all the joy of looking at the countryside will be forever ruined for him.
