I just won...

A guy on ebay had this up and for sell. i would have never seen it if it had not been for Sherri. It had been haunting me for days. I kept thinking i need to go for it. So i did. i was the sole bid. Uncle Forry has always had a special place in my heart. I did not really know him through the Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine like most people. I got to meet him at a convention and we ended up talking about some of the mutual first fandom we knew. I spent nearly a hour talking with him about Bob Tucker and many others. I never passed the opportunity to listen to the man.

I was very sad the day i had found out he had died. I often thought about the stuff in the Ackermansion. What happened to it. I know some of it went to the science fiction hall of fame. But the rest of the stuff had to go some place. This award for life time achievement will now have a place of honor in my collection. My own piece of the Ackermansion.

I miss you Uncle Forry. Thanks for all the puns and just being you.

The bulk of Uncle Forrie's stuff collection was auctioned in several MAJOR week-long auctions a few years back, when he downsized from the mansion to his final home.

This guy had bought the last 8 or 9 boxes of books from the estate. And is slowly seperating things out. (auctions are under 4SJ Ackerman for the search words) i remember the sales he had when he down sized the mansion. it broke my heart reading some of the stuff that was up for sale and knowing people did not know what they had. (should not say that, a few people did know)

Congratulations. I love how the stories of fandom continue down through the ages.

I have always enjoyed listening to stories of the days gone by. They are more enjoyable when its being told by those who lived it. Forry, Tucker, Rusty, Howard and many more are the people i admire.

I even enjoyed hearing the same story for the 25th time.

I agree with you there. I really mist hearing him talk, and others for that matter. They all had wonderful stories
